Why good feedback is what we all need right now.

How are you? Brain melting? Information overload?

Yeah, me too.

I don’t feel like I have had more than 5 minutes to concentrate on any one thing for what feels like months.

But that’s lock down for you.

That’s having family around 24/7.

Any here’s the irony of pandemic life, for those of us with families, alone time, time to think is the most precious commodity. For those of us who live alone, company is the missing piece.

I am always grateful for the work I do though, that I love it and can keep doing it in these times, and for all the aspects of my life, but we all have days where it’s a lot, and we get in a muddle and I am having one of those today!

And there is so much doom and gloom, when was the last time you felt good about something?

Well today here’s my litte ray of sunshine, my little reminder for me to keep on doing what I do.

After a session last week for a VR tour of a submarine for the Australian NAVY (which was so much fun, pretending to be in a submarine with the sound effects of being underwater, cmon!)
I got this feedback from the engineer.💫

It was great working with you, thanks for all your great performances!

It wasn’t a huge thing for him to write but I appreciated it, it felt good, and it reminded me that:

The first rule of voice acting, is be good (easy) to work with,

The second rule of voice acting is have fun!

The third rule is to treat every job like it could be your last.. bring your best.

Ok, I feel better now.

And maybe giving someone some good unsolicited feedback today is something we can all do.
