As the Vo I breathe life into the written words..
I am a voice artist…
And I aim to create the best voice for each and every project and provide the best experience for my incredible clients each time I step in front of the mic.
I’m also... a mum, a wife, friend, daughter, a book reader and cat lover, audio producer, podcast host and radio nerd.. And I have 2 kids a boy and a girl who do voice over too!
I always wanted to make funny voices as a kid, and somehow I managed to make it a career! I try not to take life too seriously but I am very serious about making sure the voice on a project is right!
I stumbled into a world of voice acting through a career in radio. I was working in a small country radio station, practising commercial script reading, playing with my voice and trying new things. And so my voice acting career grew and grew, from country radio ads to a few TV commercial reads, to countless metro radio ads and then corporate video narrations, but I have always aimed for more, for new and exciting challenges, and it never stops! In 2024 I wanted to see how my work stood up against that of voice actors internationally, so I entered into the SOVAS awards in the category of 'Outstanding Body of work - International', and I am a finalist! Watch this space to see if I can win!
I hit the voice jackpot when…
I auditioned for the kids cartoon series ‘Sumo Mouse’ in 2008 and landed a few of the main characters ‘Tabby’ and ‘Aunty Dott’.
I learned so much from working in kid’s animation, especially working with the other actors, things like how to create voices using your whole body, doing ADR, playing multiple characters in one show and how tricky it can be to nail emotions using just your voice!
I came the kids animation ‘Flea-bitten!’ which was so funny and full of hilarious characters to make voices for, from French fleas, to aliens, dogs and cats, socialites and everything in between.
Then came parts in ‘SheZow’ including the super cool character Gal Hamdon, a girl who turns into a superhero boy ‘Dudepow’, and various characters in ‘Kuu Kuu Harajuku’. Or you might hear me when you visit the planetarium near you in the animation ‘Tycho goes to Mars’.
Creating characters is challenging, but I love every minute of it. The full list of episodes are on my imdb page.
Since then…
I’ve worked on almost every voice project you can imagine, IVR, Voice of God at the MCG for the AFL Grand final 2023, for ‘Just for Laughs’ comedy festival at the Sydney Opera House, ads, ads and more ads, e-learning modules and podcast and Spotify ads. In 2020, I started branching into gaming too, auditioning and working on more character roles.
Audiobooks
I was so thrilled to be cast in my first three audio books in October 2019. Books that had many characters, male, female, old and young, human and animal, and some saucy steamy scenes to boot! The challenge was real! But once again, I’ve loved it, and have read 20 titles since then, in a range of genres.
Check out a complete list of audiobooks I’ve narrated here on Audible.
Home studio setup
Being a voice actor involves knowing and understanding audio too. So I draw on my background in audio editing, and have a booth set up at home with a Sennheiser MKH416 microphone, a Steinberg MK II interface and protools to edit. I use Source Connect Standard linked to my studio, which allows me to work with clients around the globe. It’s really cool!
Rates
I’m an MEAA member and part of the MAVA committee working on a uniform rate card for voice actors in Australia. I work at equity rates, and corporate rates determined by my agent EM voices, see them here.
I’m happy to discuss rates for games characters and other projects too, so drop me a line and let’s discuss your project.
