To Blog or not to Blog

There’s a big gap in my blog posts here on my website and the reason is, I decided with the web lady that perhaps they weren’t worth doing.
But then so much happened and there was no where to talk about it, so in 2025 the BLOG IS BACK! I’ll be adding posts about things happening in my VO world and the greater world too.
Starting with my mad dash to LA!
Mid 2024, I saw the email from SOVAS about the Voice Arts Awards categories and thought I might look at entering just to see how my work fared on the world stage.
I sat on these entries for months, I edited and re-edited the entries and left them in my cart and kind of forgot about it. But then one morning an email came into my inbox reminding me about these entries, and I thought, it was a sign, I paid the entry fee and pressed send.
Fast forward to a month later and one Sunday morning I received an email to tell me I was a finalist in the 2024 ‘Body of work’ category. One of 5 finalists. Wow.
I could have talked myself out of entering. The whole world can enter, why would I get picked? But I have no regrets when it comes to throwing my hat in the ring on this one.
I booked a whirl wind trip to LA for 4 nights, attended the ‘That’s Voice over conference’ for 3 days, went to the Beverly Hilton to the SOVAS awards, and, no I didn’t win, but what an experience, all because I took a risk and entered this thing!
More about the trip in further blogs, but if your imposter syndrome is telling you not to bother trying something, I’d say, don’t listen, do the thing!
